Recent Happenings

 

SEPTEMBER 2006

 

The club moved training and practice sessions to the Mercy Medical Wellness Center, 1702 Catherine Court, Suite C, Auburn, AL.  The Center has a 39'X19' carpeted and air conditioned exercise room, separate room for exercise equipment (e.g., stair steppers, treadmills, elliptical exercisers, etc.)  as well as a conference room for more traditional classroom style study and instruction.  See the "Schedule & Location" page for directions.

 

AUGUST 2006

 

Tony Overfelt attended the George Dillman Kyusho-Jitsu Seminar hosted by Sensei Cliff Bolton in Atlanta on August 13. 

 

JULY 2006

 

Tony Overfelt attended the Dillman Karate International Summer Camp hosted by Master Will Higginbotham in Indianapolis, IN on July 28-30.  The highlight of this year's camp was the in-depth breakdown of the self defense moves from the pattern traditional Okinawan pattern "Seisan."

 

MARCH 2006

 

March 7:  The Auburn Martial Arts Fellowship conducted a high color belt belt testing.  Mr. Josh Reddish and Mr. Jesse Poage both successfully tested for 2nd Gup Brown Belt.  Congratulations and keep training to reach your black belt goal! 

 

FEBRUARY 2006

 

February 18:  Tim Poage and Tony Overfelt attended a Kyusho-jitsu and Tuite-jitsu seminar in Gallatin, TN presented by Grandmasters Will Higginbotham and Leon Jay.  The seminar was hosted by Sensei David Hughes of the Ernie Reyes West Coast Association. 

 

AUGUST 2005

 

 

 

August 13:  The "Youth Competition Team" of Josh Reddish (back, left), Jesse Poage (back, right), TJ Turkington (front, left) and Daniel Margulis (front, right) participated in the Black Belts for Christ Tournament at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA.  The fellowship and competition was excellent and the team brought home several trophies!

 Steve Renfroe and Tony Overfelt attended the George Dillman Kyusho-Jitsu Seminar in Atlanta on August 13.  The seminar was hosted by Sensei Cliff Bolton of Atlanta Ryukyu Kempo.

August 25:  The Auburn Martial Arts Fellowship conducted a high color belt belt testing.  Mr. Josh Reddish and Mr. Jesse Poage both successfully tested for 3rd Gup Red Belt while Mr. Daniel Margulis successfully tested for 4th Gup Purple belt.  Congratulations again!  The month of August was was an exciting time for these Christian martial artists!

 

JULY 2005

 

Tim Poage and Tony Overfelt attended the Dillman Karate International Summer Camp hosted by Master Will Higginbotham in Indianapolis, IN on July 22-24.  The training was great (as always).  The highlight of the camp was the in-depth breakdown of the self defense moves from the traditional Okinawan pattern "Wanshu."

 

JUNE 2005

 

The Auburn Martial Arts Fellowship conducted belt testing on June 9, 2005.  Mrs. Irmgard Westfall, Mrs. Patty Tyler and Mr. Scott Guthrie successfully tested for 2nd Degree Black Belt.  Mr. Davis Vail also successfully tested for 1st Gup Senior Brown Belt.   Later in the month on June 21, Mr. Tim Poage was promoted to1st Gup Senior Brown Belt after testing during the previous week.  Congratulations to all on achieving these milestones in your martial arts training.  The new ranks are well deserved!

 

  Tony Overfelt attended Steve Cooper's Kyusho Tuite-Jitsu seminar in Alpharetta, GA on June 25.

 

MAY 2005

 

The "Youth Competition Team" participated in the Black Belts for Christ Tournament at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA on May 14, 2005.  The sportsmanship at the tournament was great.  All three of our  participants were blessed by seeing excellent karate and sportsmanship as well as bringing home trophies in their first ever tournament!
